MAC Whirl Lipstick – The Matte Lip Collection for Summer 2015

I love MAC lipsticks! They are expensive, yes, but I haven’t been disappointed so far on anything that I own. Recently, they launched the The Matte Lip Collection for Summer 2015 in the U.S. and since they are all over Instagram, I picked out two of the shades that I fancy. I bought the lipsticks from @heylarrstore for P900 each. MAC lipsticks usually sell for P1,000. Most of the shades from this collection are already from the permanent range, and I believe that all of the new shades will be permanent too! (Correct me if I’m wrong!)

90’s makeup is so popular right now and that means for the lips, the brown-toned shades are in! Today, let me show you what I think is the the most famous shade now and it is called Whirl.

Let’s now take a look!

MAC Whirl Lipstick is a “dirty rose” matte lipstick. Like all other matte shades from MAC, this goes on smoothly and is quite creamy. It sets and stays for a long time even after eating or drinking. It does fade a little, but I don’t really mind retouching my lips. It kind of dries my lips at the end of the day but can easily be remedied with a lip balm!

Depending on the lighting, it looks to be too dark with several layers on but with a thin layer, it looks very wearable!

I initially thought that it is very similar to Taupe, but I was wrong. Whirl looks browner with a hint of pink.

It was terribly gloomy when I took these photos so the lighting was off, but it still showed the shade more accurately. I did not change the color levels, brightness and contrast on these swatches.

I took my portraits in front of a window, and it was sunny (a different day!) so my lipstick looks warmer. I paired my lips with an orange eyeshadow with brown blended on my crease. I only used a black eyeshadow as an eyeliner for slight definition. (Can my face get any chubbier?!)

Overall, the MAC Whirl Lipstick is one great addition to my MAC collection. I counted how many MAC lipsticks that I own so far, and it is more than 20! Oh my G! Oh yes! I had to look that up pa! I read that it is a permanent shade, and this shade suits our skintone! 🙂

Looks great! I love how it works with your overall skin tone. But I feel it’s a little high maintenance in that you have to strategize your whole look. I feel like this will be too dark on me but it looks an awesome 90s shade on you. INGGET.

This shade is giving me gorgeous 90s realness. I remember seeing your photo on my Instagram feed thinking WHAT IS THIS LIPSTICK I MUST GET IT. I do feel the same now, a couple of days later. It’s beautiful!

pretty! it sounds exactly like its pencil liner version with out the drying part lang. i have the pencil and it doesnt look as good on me if i wear it alone. its really nice paired up with mac velvet teddy tho 🙂

I passed on this one. Hindi ko inexpect na ganun sya ka dark. Baka aging sakin. I thought it would be similar to Taupe, too. Tipong rosy version ng Taupe.
