theBalm Meet Matt(e) Eyeshadow Palette Review + FOTD!
An eyeshadow palette that will meet all of your matte needs. The nine shadows found in the compact palette (named after our favorite Matthews next door) can be combined to create a multitude of soft and wearable looks. In the daytime, choose more neutral shades to seamlessly blend, enhance your eyes and complement your complexion. In the evening, create a sultry, smoky eye by concentrating the velvety-rich colors at the lash line before blending towards the crease. Meet Matt(e)™ offers the best in matte color, versatility and convenience. The palette includes three vibrantly toned shadows to coordinate with your outfits and enhance your eyes, three dark, rich shades to create smoky looks or to be used as soft eyeliners and a mini double-sided eyeshadow/liner brush.

Everybody loves a matte eyeshadow palette for an everyday natural look, am I right? I am guilty of buying several palettes with neutral shades but I know that I will make the most use out of them. I love wearing eyeshadow shades like gold, brown, champagne, and the like. On some days, I experiment with bright or fun colors to make my eyes pop! I love to experiment with my look that is why I have tons of #selfie on my Instagram. Follow Me! 🙂
Today, I will share my most recent eyeshadow palette called theBalm Meet Matt(e) Eyeshadow Palette. I’ve wanted this palette for years but I kept myself from buying it because it’s too pricey for me (back then!). My makeup artist used this palette when my husband and I had our engagement shoot, and I loved the look she did on me. So since Luxola has it on sale for Php 1,100+ (US $25), I took advantage and bought it (finally!). I searched theBalm.com but it seems like this palette is already discontinued, but there are still sellers at Amazon.com.
This palette comes with nine eyeshadow shades. They are soft and creamy when I dip my fingers on the pan. It comes with a dual-ended brush but I don’t like it because it is stiff and picks up too much product. It might be better to use for eyebrows instead.
This palette is very lightweight because of the cardboard packaging, and it closes properly because of the magnetic closure. It may look small but I don’t think I’ll be able to use it up very soon because each shade are pretty pigmented and blends pretty well.
L-R: Matt Smith/Matt Gallagher/Matt Ramirez/Matt McDonald/Matt Horowitz/Matt Chung/Matt Batali/Matt Schilling/Matt Patel
- Matt Smith is a matte warm light beige
- Matt Gallagher medium-dark brown with a matte finish
- Matt Ramirez is a dark, sooty brown with warm red undertones but an almost gray-ish tint
- Matt McDonald is a bluish-gray with a slightly pearled silver sheen
- Matt Horowitz is a purpled blue with a semi-matte finish
- Matt Chung is a pale white-pink with a matte finish
- Matt Batali is a deep burgundy eggplant with brown and purple tones
- Matt Schilling is a matte teal that leans a little blue
- Matt Patel is a gray-ish mauve with a little brown
I noticed that not all shades are flat matte but have a nice sheen like Matt McDonald and Matt Horowitz. Some shades look patchy like Matt Ramirez and Matt Batali so a good eye primer is a must when using those shades. They are not horrible but just needs a good base so they would apply evenly.
Here’s the eyeshadow look I came up with. First, I applied Matt Smith all over the eyelids up to the brow bone to even it out and for smoother blending. I then applied Matt Gallagher over the crease to deepen it. For the eyelids, I used Matt Batali. It didn’t look patchy at all when blended properly. Love this shade! I also blended it a little higher on the crease to create a smokey look. I also smudged it on the lower lash line. I added Matt Ramirez on the outer eye area for more definition. I applied a black eyeliner near my upper lash line, a brown eyeliner on my waterline and a black mascara to finish the look!
I am wearing the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes here. It is a beautiful shade to pair with a smokey eye look, isn’t it? I am probably not wearing a blush and bronzer here, but I vaguely remember. Hehe.
Just because the window lighting is beautiful… 🙂
If you love matte eyeshadows, definitely grab this palette. It is awesome for day and night time looks! It comes with a variety of shades and finish and it is very travel-friendly. I hope you can grab them while on sale!!!
Have a great day, and until my next post! 🙂

Thank you, Melanie! I practice a lot. It will really take time to properly apply makeup. I don’t want to look back on my beauty disasters. Hehehe
Joys

Oh my gosh! Ang mura!!! is still on sale or available? ( ichecheck ko na lang)
I have always been eying The Balm products, pag pumupunta ako ng Beauty Bar yan ang una kong tinitingnan pero I never purchased one because it is too pricey for me. Super ganda ng shadows and blushes nila. Hayyy.
Hey hmm do you have a Revealed 2 palette? can you do a look? :))
Juvy
Yes, still on sale! theBalm products are worth it! Long-lasting ang blushes/bronzers/highlighters nila. I’ve reviewed some. They are actually priced close to the US prices here.
I don’t have the Revealed 2 palette, but I will do a tutorial if I get a hold of it. 🙂
Thanks for visiting, Karla!

The colors are really nice! I like that they included dark blue and dark green colors, very unusual with neutral palettes. I haven’t tried any of theBalm’s eyeshadow palettes, I would like to have Nude ‘Tude /Dude in the future. 🙂

I love the packaging and the palette! Your FOTD looks gorgeous too. 🙂

Amazing! I usually regard matte palettes as very tame, but I love the smokey look you came up with. You’ve managed to turn the boy-next-door shades into something sultry. <3

Beautiful eye looks! I always feel intimidated by matte shadows. lol Curious, what blending brush did you use for these looks?
