Drugstore Finds: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in CANNES!
Neither lipstick nor lip gloss, this matte lip cream is a new kind of lip color that goes on silky smooth and sets to a matte finish. Soft Matte Lip Cream is surprisingly durable and, unlike some matte lipstick formulas, also moisturizing.
I am on a drugstore brand kick lately so I am following up my last review with another one from NYX called NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes. If you have read my last post, the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams were my first makeup from NYX, and since then, I fell in love with the brand. I collected different shades of this lip cream but the latest one that I bought was Cannes.
• What it is: Highly pigmented, matte lip cream
• What it does: Creates various matte lip looks
• Why we love it: Delightfully creamy and lightweight, our award-winning line just expanded with two captivating new shades.Artist Tips/Suggested Use
• How to use: Apply directly to lips, or over lipstick. Apply with lip liner to define outline of lips.
The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams come in several shades. There’s definitely one for any skin tone. I personally love San Paulo, Amsterdam, and Addis Ababa. I like the darker shades more because they suit my medium skin tone.
The packaging is plastic, with a doe foot applicator. It is very lightweight, and it closes properly. It’s not going to make a hot mess inside your purse. The packaging is very similar to what the real color is inside so that’s a plus!
Cannes was described as Matte Muted Mauve. I think it is peach or brownish pink in person. It is a very wearable shade that suits all skin tones for me. This applies very smoothly, like a mousse, and then dries down to a matte finish. It is not drying on my lips, and feels like a very thin layer, like velvet, when I press my lips together.
Some people say that it comes off easily, but on me, it stays put, maybe a little faded after eating. It doesn’t come off when I drink, and it doesn’t leave a stain on my cup when it is fully set. One tube on our local counters costs Php 390, $6 (U.S.) and about Php 250-280 when you buy from online stores like MakeupInboxPH.
Out of all the liquid to matte lipsticks that I have tried, NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are definitely the best, so I highly recommend them!
Have you tried these lip creams? What shades are your favorites? Share!

I own stockholm and I actually don’t like it, it very grain-y on me. But because of all the raves I have been aching of buying another one, I wanted to try prague and addis ababa, such a beautiful color! And now I want cannes, such a great everyday color!

Cannes is so beautiful. I think I have Tokyo and Istanbul. I was going to buy San Paulo but it was out of stock. The SA in SM Aura said if I layer Istanbul and Tokyo it will create a San Paulo(ish) shade. She was right but it felt uncomfortable on the lips. It’s a shame that I can’t wear Tokyo or Istanbul alone because they wash me out. Will try again! Haha

I really don’t like the lighter shades on me because my lips are often dry or chapped, so the flakes are more visible. Buti na lang meron lip scrubs and balms! Hehe
Istanbul and Tokyo blended is not near San Paulo ha! San Paulo looks like a dark pink to me.

It comes off easily on me rin 🙁 I wonder why! I also feel a big itch on my lips when I wear these, but the colors are nice enough for me to put up with them :))

Oh baka sanay lips mo sa high-end? Hahaha! I wonder why the longevity varies. Ganun naman talaga ang makeup, may or may not work for everyone. 🙂

Wow, “NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are definitely the best”– reading this from a girl who tried tons of lip products… made me even more curious to try this shade.
Though, I have tried 3 soft matte lip creams already! I really like Addis Ababa and Stockholm. Stockholm + sleek barely there = perfect peach shade ever.
I don’t like London, though! Too brown for my taste. Cannes looks wonderful on you, dear! Based on your swatch, rosy-brown shade, which is a perfect shade to wear for everyday! I think it will suit women of any age! Currently, I have obsession with any lip product that has a hint of “mauve” in it. Audrey from Nyx matte collection is my go-to matte lipstick,

Mauvey shades work for me best if I don’t want to wear my bright lipsticks! Super true that the soft matte lip creams are one of the best compared to the rest of my liquid to matte lipsticks like limecrime, la splash. Ofra (I love too like NYX), and max factor has good one’s too!

Cannes look pretty MLBB shade. Maybe I’m one of those people saying that it comes off easily – pertaining to the lighter shades haha! but I trust SMLC dark shades 😀

I was going through a smokey eye phase (thanks, Kardashians!) and I almost got Istanbul. I backed out when I heard that it was drying for some. I might look into it again. Even after I’m not so much into the smokey eye, the color looks nice enough for daily wear.
