BDJ Box for April 2014 featuring Pixy Beauty!

My husband, Fritz, and I normally go on dates during weekends to unwind a bit after a week’s work. Last Saturday, we watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier at SM North. While inside the movie house, he received an SMS that we lost electricity at home. Sadly, we had to rush home right after the movie ended. I really admire him for being very responsible, but I really felt disappointed that we have to go home. 🙁

While he was fixing the fuse box, the delivery man came. I was not expecting any packages at that time, but got so ecstatic when I learned that it is from Viviamo! My mood instantly turned into excitement! No kidding! 😀 I am always excited when my BDJ Box comes in the mail. He caught me putting the box inside my bag because I wanted to hide it from him! LOL! He teases me everytime I receive items from Xend or LBC. Hahaha! (Too much online shopping!) Ok, enough of my stories, let’s now check what’s inside the box!

This month’s box features Pixy Beauty. Pixi Beauty is from Indonesia, but their products are developed by Japanese technology to suit Asian skin. When I first opened the box, I was quite intrigued because I did not know Pixy Beauty. I know Pixi, but not Pixy. I was also intrigued about the product quality. I usually read reviews before I try out new products. Thankfully, I rarely get bad reactions when applying makeup so it’s ok to test these new products out.

As usual, when you open the box, it includes the card that describes all what’s inside. I appreciate the empowerment stickers that come inside too. I can no longer find a place to stick those. 😀

I am so glad that the box includes eight full-size items, and one refill. There are three powder/cake foundations, three lipsticks, one mascara, blush and eyeliner.

Below are my thoughts about them.

Photo 4-13-14, 5 24 25 PMI like the packaging. They are sturdy, and the designs are cute. They do not look cheap in my opinion. However, they are not travel-friendly. The powders come in three different shades. The Pixy UV Whitening Two Way Cake Perfect Fit is in Ivory, The Pixy Ultimate Makeup Cake is Peach Beige, and the refill of the Pixy UV Whitening Two Way Cake Perfect Matte is Yellow Ochre. I already applied the first two powders on my face, and there is just a slight difference between the shades. Of course, Peach Beige is darker and suits my skin tone more, but it is still lighter. I actually prefer lighter powders because I am acidic, so they tend to oxidize. I also love applying bronzers and contouring powders so no worries!

Photo 4-13-14, 5 25 16 PMThere is a slight scent on these powders, but they do not linger. I did not have irritations after wearing them for more than five hours. They give medium coverage when applied with a dry sponge, and full coverage with wet sponge.  I would like to commend the quality of these powders because they have covered most of my dark spots, evened out discolorations, and made me look flawless! Promise! If you have tried the FS Cosmetics Two-Way Cake Foundation, they are kind of similar. 🙂

Next are the lipsticks. They come in three finishes– Satin, Matte and Semi Matte. The shades I got vary. The shades are Silky Fit Lipstick Satin in Autumn Apricot, Lasting Matte Lipstick in Pink Smoothie, and Silky Fit Lipstick Semi Matte in Haruka.

The packaging is cute but bulky. They have sweet scents, but not overpowering. They also do not linger. The best formula for me is the Silky Fit Lipstick Satin. It glides on easily, has a good pigmentation, and applies evenly. The same goes with the Silky Fit Lipstick Semi MatteThe Lasting Matte Lipstick emphasizes my lip lines, but glides on easily on my lips. It is not really matte, in my opinion. It is still not that bad though! Maybe a deeper shade will look better on my lips.

Next is a blush!!! Aside from lipsticks, I hoard blushes! I have a collection that can last a lifetime! I feel bad sometimes because I don’t use each of them as often. I only have two plump cheeks eh! Anyway, I am glad that the shade I got is not pink but Brown Tea! It is a deep coral shade. It has a satin finish. I did not use the brush inside because it is so stiff. I swiped my blush brush (goat hair) a few times to check if it is chalky, or powdery, but it is not! No glitters too, so, Yay! 🙂

Last but not the least, the Eye Liner and the Mascara.

The Pixy Eye Liner is creamy, glides on smoothly, but not long lasting. I used it both on my waterline, and close to my upper lashes. It started to fade after about three hours. Still not that bad compared to other drugstore brands that doesn’t stay as long as an hour. This is something I will not recommend though, because my Holy Grail drugstore eye liner is still the L.A. Girl Glide Gel Pencil Eye Liner.

I like the Pixy Volumizing Waterproof Mascara because it curled and held my lashes even if I did not use an eyelash curler. It is very long-lasting, and it did not flake nor smudge. Makeup remover is a must to take it off because it didn’t completely remove using a facial wash.

The moment of truth…

I highly recommend the cake foundations because of how they brightened and evened out my face. I applied the two cake foundations on each side of my face but I barely notice the difference between them. The Blush On in Brown Tea looks perfect for everyday wear and can also be used for contouring. The Satin lipstick in Autumn Apricot also suits my skin tone very well. I applied the eyeliner on my waterline, and near the upper lashes. Look at my eye lashes! They are not curled but the mascara did a great job of curling and volumizing it. I did not experience any clumping, too.

Overall, I am highly satisfied with this April 2014’s BDJ Box! Truly worth more than the Php 580 subscription fee that I paid for. I am still going to continue with my subscription because I am super impressed. I can’t wait for next month!

Hope you enjoyed reading my post, and feel free to comment!

Hi, Juvy! Thanks for following me– first off, I just wanted to say that your blog name is so cute! I have chubby cheeks too, haha! Second, this box looks really interesting because there are full-size products. I love samples and how cute and small they are, but they’re samples! It’s awesome that these are the big-sized products. Cheers!
