Carmen Claire Matte Lipstick in Sanguinello
I am a self-confessed lip junkie. I know I have a lot of lipsticks that can last a lifetime but I really can’t help getting more! There a lot of beautiful shades to choose from, and also, different brands tend to release different formula that are very tempting to buy!
A recent purchase was this Carmen Claire Matte Lipstick in Sanguinello. I am curious about this matte lipstick so I bought it together with the Cailyn Gelux Eyebrow and Duo Fiber Kabuki. I will be reviewing the other two soon! 🙂
Carmen Claire says: Ultra-modern and luxuriously smooth, these lipsticks are long-lasting and pack a powerful punch in the color department. Apply, blot, and apply again for chic matte lips, all day long.
Sanguinello is named after Italy’s famous blood oranges, a bright orangey-red. It costs Php 305.00 and available at www.carmenclaire.com.
It was love at first sight the moment I saw this lipstick. It really has a very nice color even just by looking at the tube. I can not wait to try it even before reviewing it, and so I did. Let me summarize my pros and cons.
PROS
Pigmented
It does not have a strong smell
It is really Matte
Non-irritating
Locally available
CONS
Tugs my lips during application
Super dry and gritty texture
Below is a shade comparison with CoverGirl Hot Passion and MAC Riri Woo.
OVERALL: I really love the color and pigmentation of this lipstick, but the super dry texture, and the way it tugs my lips are definitely something that I don’t want in any of my lipsticks. I emailed Carmen Claire to ask if they sent me an old stock, but they said that their items are always fresh and new. They suggested to roll the lipstick between my palms to heat it up, but that did not resolve the problem. I am tempted to get a different shade, but I think I would not risk it anymore. Might as well buy from other brands out there. Maybe a swipe of a lip balm will make it easier to apply, but then, it might affect the matte texture.
RECOMMEND: No, there are better quality lipsticks out there.
PURCHASE AGAIN: No. I am afraid that I will have the same experience with other shades.
Hope this review helped! Have a happy hump day!

Worse than your Riri Woo? I love the color but I’m pretty paranoid about it being too dry. I have an idea of how tuggy Riri Woo is so if you could compare, that’d be great!

Riri Woo’s texture is wayyyy better! This tugs so much, as if you are rubbing it hard on your lips. :-/

Woah, that’s just sad. I’m always on the lookout for cheaper matte lipsticks. Sayang. The shade’s pretty pa naman. But I just can’t wear a lipstick that would emphasize the dryness of my lips :((
