Are the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms Worth the Hype?

Are the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms Worth the Hype?

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms

Recently, I bought the much raved about Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms from Chic Cosmetics Manila here in the Philippines. It is not yet available at our local counters so it is hard to buy them. I was lucky to have bought three colors that I liked. I got Mischievous, Showy, and Unapologetic. The packaging is cute, but similar to the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains, only it has a matte texture.

OVERALL: I love most of Revlon’s products, but I think this product did not impress me much. I do not like how it looks when it settles on the lines of my lips. I like the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains more than this. If I will suggest other options for a matte lip product, it will be the Wet N’ Wild Megalast Lipsticks. They have better texture and pigmentation, and they also come in variety of colors. Remember, my experience with this product may be different, so you can still give it a try if you want to. 🙂

RECOMMEND: No
PURCHASE AGAIN: No

Hope this review helped! Have a great week! :-*

You saved me from this!
I love matte and I’ve tried wet ‘n wild megalast. If that one’s better, I’d rather stick with that. Anyway, showy is my fave of the bunch 🙂

I expected a lot from it, but, I don’t really like the texture and how it accentuates the fine lines. Di mo naman pwede iexfoliate yung lips mo at all times during the day, so it’s not worth it… I kinda regret getting three shades, sana I tried one muna…

Shari Posted on 3:20 am - Jan 7, 2014

Oooh, killed my lemming for this – THANK YOU JUVY! 🙂
Ang mahal niya pala ha, 400-500!? I’d rather go with a lipstick, thank you Revlon. And will take a look at the WnW lipsticks you’ve mentioned, parang I’ve heard so much about it!

    Juvy Posted on 5:20 am - Jan 7, 2014

I expected a lot talaga. Sana nga I bought a MAC lipstick na lang. Hehe. I am not really a fan of this matte balm. Mas ok pa yung totoong balm, like Nivea. 🙂

Aw, sayang! 🙁 How do they reapply? OK naman?

    Juvy Posted on 1:59 am - Jan 8, 2014

Pwede ireapply. Kaso talagang kita yung lines. Kung talagang super soft yung lips, it will work. I am trying to make it work by putting EOS lip balm first, mas mukhang decent, kaso lang, double step pa. :-/

shayne Posted on 5:39 pm - Jan 7, 2014

ooo thanks for comparing it with WnW lipsticks, i have one of those and i really like it, quite drying on my lips but ok na for the price. this i think is a little more expensive than what i expected it to be. i wonder if its on the counter na mas mura. thanks for the review! 🙂

    Juvy Posted on 2:32 am - Jan 8, 2014

Online Sellers pa lang nagbebenta kaya mahal (compared to US). Maybe it will be the same price sa Just Bitten if ever nasa counter na (P525).
I really think mas ok yung Wet n Wild Megalast than this.
Glad to see you here, Shayne! (*starstrucked!*) 🙂

I was waiting for this to come to our local Revlon counters. Glad to have read your review first! Mahal parin siya considering it’s from an online store. I’m currently using the original version of these (the first ones na lumabas) and I love them to bits! Have you seen the Lacquer version of the balm stain? It looks interesting din. 🙂

    Juvy Posted on 1:29 am - Jan 10, 2014

I watched a review about the Lacquer balms having silver glitters. Turn off ako. Hehe. Don’t want to buy na lang, baka di ko rin magustuhan. 🙂
Thanks for coming by, Helen! 🙂

Genzel Posted on 8:47 pm - Jan 9, 2014

OMG! I just placed an order ng showy! :O now I want to ask for a different item nalang :O Thanks for the review! 😀

    Juvy Posted on 1:27 am - Jan 10, 2014

I think Showy is pretty shade. You can try a lip balm underneath. You may like it. 🙂

I had to go back to this. Someone gave me a matte balm (she didn’t like it) and I agree with this review. The performance didn’t match the hype.

    Juvy Posted on 2:36 pm - Mar 14, 2014

Thanks Rae. Out of all the shades I tried, Sultry and Standout are the best!

I was disappointed too. I got Mischievous shade and even applying balm, my lips’ lines are showing up. I look washed out too. 🙁

    Juvy Posted on 2:24 pm - May 16, 2014

If you are more tanned, try sultry and standout. They are the best shades for me. Check out my other posts. 🙂

Elle Posted on 1:33 pm - May 26, 2014

Unapologetic looks really good on everyone! But the matte ones didn’t grabbed my attention as opposed to the lacquer balms! 😀

Celerhina Aubrey ★ Posted on 12:33 pm - Nov 2, 2015

I just bought 2 shades of this – sultry and shameless. Kasi 50% off. Hahaha! I love sultry to bits. 🙂

    Juvy Posted on 12:35 pm - Nov 2, 2015

Sultry is the best shade for me! 😊
